Koos Zietsman

Koos worked as an armoured vehicle design engineer.

He bought his first motorcycle, a 50cc stripped and stuffed in a box, in 1972. He rebuilt it and cut his biking teeth on the dirt roads around Pietersburg. He took part in his first road race in 1979 at Zwartkops on Neels van Niekerk’s 50cc Yamaha FS1.

Koos was a multiple South African Regional and National motorcycle road racing champion between 1980 and 2015. He has also competed in 4×4 Challenges. In these categories he used bikes and 4×4 competition trucks designed and built by himself.

Professionally, he designed and built more than 40 armoured vehicles with sales to major first and third world countries since 1985.
